Crowley Thoth Tarot Version B
About
The Thoth Tarot which features very unique card designs and artistic direction is a collaboration between the famous occultist Aleister Crowley who designed the deck, and Lady Frieda Harris who painted the illustrations. This very popular divination tarot created between 1938 and 1943 is notable for having major arcana re-ordered and renamed to allow what Crowley calls the “double zodiac loop” for tarot reading. We note that the suit of disks replace the suit of pentacles found in the Waite-Smith decks and many cards have different names. In particular the Knights replace the Kings, The Knights become the Princes and the Pages are replaced by the Princesses. This version, commonly referred as version B, was published by Weisner instead of Llewellyn and is the first one to introduce the extra Ordo Templi Orientis white playing card.
Our deck is in excellent condition, missing the 8 of cups, and with its box. All colored versions of the Toth decks are believed to be derived from the prints included in the original limited edition of the Toth book printed by Crowley circa 1944 not Frieda original paintings.
