Etteilla II: Jeu des 78 tarots egyptiens - Livre de thot
About
In 1838 Simon Blocquel, a student of Etteilla, published this updated version of the Etteilla tarot deck under the title “Grand livre de Thot.”. This version is commonly known as the Lismon Etteilla or Etteilla Type II.
This deck most recognizable feature of this deck is that each card is framed with stencil painted blue borders. The designs are painted using a six-color palette: light blue, red, green, yellow, gold, and peach. The cards are French titled, with titles on either side and a single black line inner border. Numbered at each of the four corners, the cards also have upright and reversed meanings at the top and bottom. In the tradition of Etteilla, Simon Blocquel often employed anagrammatic pseudonyms such as Blismon, Z. Lismon, Zlismon when publishing Tarot decks and associated literature. Our deck is complete, in very good condition, and comes with its box. It has a 1890 République Français tax stamp on the Two of Swords card. Importantly the Unbroken wreath of card #74 indicates that this deck is an early printing as the card #74 block was damaged at some point during printing and late printing exhbits a broken wreath.
