Crowley Thoth Tarot Blue Version
About
The Thoth Tarot which features very unique card designs and artistic direction is a collaboration between the famous occultist Aleister Crowley who designed the deck, and Lady Frieda Harris who painted the illustrations. This very popular divination tarot created between 1938 and 1943 is notable for having major arcana re-ordered and renamed to allow what Crowley calls the “double zodiac loop” for tarot reading. We note that the suit of disks replace the suit of pentacles found in the Waite-Smith decks and many cards have different names. In particular the Knights replace the Kings, The Knights become the Princes and the Pages are replaced by the Princesses.
This version, commonly referred as the Blue Toth A due to its blue box, is the first one to feature the three variations of the Magus (Magician) card that Lady Frieda Harris made. Those cards replace the O.T.O white card added in version B and the Thelemic Hexagram symbol card introduced in the version C.
The deck is in excellent condition and is complete with all 80 cards, exceeding the expected 78 cards. It also comes with the original booklet. The deck is housed in a large Swiss Blue Box, a characteristic of this particular version.
